By Payton Tholstrup

On Wednesday, April 17th, the Concordia City Commission met for their regular meeting.

The commission voted to approve an ordinance that would allow temporary camping in the Concordia City Park for the Biking Across Kansas Tour. The ordinance will begin on June 12th at 10 a.m. and end at 10 a.m. on June 13th.

This will be Bike Across Kansas’ 50th anniversary. Hundreds of bicyclists participate every year, gathering on the state’s border with Colorado. They embark on a weeklong journey across Kansas, with the route changing every year.

This year, the route will have several overnight stays in the following towns; Concordia, Tribune, Scott City, Ness City, Lincoln, Frankfort, Hoisington, and Holton. It will end on the Missouri River in Atchison.

Cyclists will have the option of camping in the park in Concordia or staying at the high school.
