For the next four weeks, SNAP households that choose to use their SNAP card at the market will receive double the number of SNAP tokens they purchase. SNAP households can then use these tokens to purchase goods from the various market vendors. If a SNAP household wants to spend $5 at the market, they will receive $10 in SNAP tokens; if they want to spend $10 at the market, they will receive $20 in SNAP tokens, and so on.
The final market during which SNAP cards will be accepted will be Thursday, September 25th. The Concordia Farmers Market is held on Thursdays from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Concordia City Park, located at the corner of 11th & Washington.
Double Up Days for SNAP Households has been made possible through a collaboration between the Cloud County Resource Center, the Community Foundation for Cloud County, and K-State Extension’s River Valley District.
Currently, folks can expect to find a variety of fruits and veggies at the market, as well as sourdough bread, coffee beans, body care products, cookies, Caribbean food, freeze-dried fruits and veggies, jams and jellies, and honey, among other items. New vendors come and go each week, so it is important to visit the market on a regular basis if you want access to the best variety of locally grown and/or prepared products. We have also had craft items throughout the season.
Help us finish the farmers market season strong, support your local food producers, and come see us on Thursday afternoons now through September 25th!
