Eisenhower Marathon set for April 27th

By Ryan Duey

On Saturday, April 27th Runners from across the country will gather in Abilene for the 2024 Eisenhower Marathon. “This Marathon is the fastest and flattest Boston Marathon Qualifier Event in America,” said Race Organizer Steve Cathey.

For over 20 years runners have been packing into Old Abilene Town to race this scenic route through Browns Park. Cathey said, “New participants can expect a fun and positive experience as well as amazing views along the course.” Several aid stations are placed along the route, operated by local youth groups and businesses. Runners can then finish off their race with a cold glass of Chocolate Milk from Hildebrand Farms.

Participants have the option of running a full or half marathon, 5K, live or virtually, or new to this year a Marathon Team Relay, with 4 runners teaming up to tackle the full Marathon route in sections.

Cathey said that this Marathon would not be successful without the support of their local sponsors, the City of Abilene, Dickinson County, Joe Hawk, and his wife and daughter. Visit the Eisenhower Marathon Website for information and to register.
