Everybody Counts of Manhattan to Hold Annual Community Event

By Ryan Duey

Everybody Counts, a non-profit organization in Manhattan, will hold its 12th Community Event on Saturday, August 3rd from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Douglass Recreation Complex.

Debbie Nuss, Everybody Counts Chair said this event was organized 10 years ago in response to a report that a large number of students in the area school district were experiencing homelessness.

Ness said this annual event will have about 65 to 70 agencies available this year. This event provides free services to those in need.

There will be free veterinary services, free haircuts, free health checks, free harvesters distribution, local police and fire will be there to greet people, a free brunch for attendees, and much more.

Nuss wanted to thank local businesses for their sponsorship this year. These sponsors will allow them to celebrate the 10 years of service to the community. This event is open to anyone, no questions asked, Nuss said. More information about Everybody Counts can be found on their Facebook page.
