Experience Art and Community at Senior Saturday

By Ryan Duey

“Senior Saturday,” an event tailored for senior citizens aged 60 and above, will be Saturday, March 2, from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. at the Lee Dam Center for Fine Art in Marysville. The two-hour casual gathering promises a morning of cultural enrichment, camaraderie, and culinary delights.

The event is sponsored by the Marshall County Arts Cooperative and Community Memorial Healthcare.

“We are excited to host Senior Saturday to honor and engage our senior citizens,” said Hannah Schroller-Simpson, the arts cooperative’s treasurer. “It’s a wonderful opportunity for them to enjoy the beauty of art, connect with others, and indulge in a delightful breakfast.”

The current exhibition at the art center is “Beyond the Oval Office,” a display of photographs and prints of United States Presidents and First Ladies.

Senior Saturday offers senior citizens private access to the current exhibition; it allows them a chance to immerse themselves in the artwork and discuss it with others. The event also provides a complimentary breakfast of freshly prepared breakfast food and beverages.

“Community is really important to the arts cooperative,” said Schroller-Simpson. “We want the art center to be a welcoming space for social interactions and shared appreciation of the arts.”
