Freedom Sings will join the lineup for this year’s Freedom Fest in Junction City, bringing a unique opportunity for veterans and their families to share their stories through music. Lt. Colonel Nate Brookshire (R) and American Legion Post 45 Commander John Abel said the organization partners participants with professional Nashville songwriters. The writers guide veterans and their families through the storytelling process, ultimately helping them create and publish an original song.
Those interested can sign up through the Freedom Fest website by selecting the Freedom Sings link and completing an application, including a commitment to weekly Zoom calls. From the applicants, 10 individuals will be chosen to record songs for the Freedom Sings catalog. Three participants will then be selected to perform their songs live on July 1 to help kick off Freedom Fest.
Organizers say this marks an exciting new addition to the annual celebration.
