Garfield Elementary PEP Organizing Community Efforts, Fostering Community Improvement

By Quinn O’Hara

The Garfield Elementary Parent Educator Partnership is an organization that “works behind the scenes to make sure the students and staff at Garfield Elementary in Clay Center are taken care of.” According to GESPEP President Anna Knepper.

For the past several years, the GESPEP has organized many events for Garfield Elementary students, families, and educators. Recent events include the recent Young Entrepreneur Fair, Family Movie Nights, Fundraisers, and more.

Knepper said the GESPEP aims to have a positive impact in the community by supporting its youth and local businesses.

The GESPEP Facebook states that “with today’s tight budgets, a strong, well-functioning PEP can be a teacher’s most important ally when it comes to achieving curricular and fundraising goals.”

The GESPEP also holds monthly meetings to organize their efforts and plan their upcoming events, however the meeting for the month of May has been canceled.
