The Ghost Crew Riders (GCR) of Junction City are set to host their 4th Annual Diaper Crawl on Saturday, April 26th with registration starting at 10:00 a.m. at the Rockhouse in Ogden. All proceeds from this annual event will go to the Riley and Geary County WIC programs.
Casper Harold, GCR President, said the idea for the Diaper Crawl came from an event that takes place in Wichita every year.
“My sister Crystal is friends with the original people who started the Diaper Jam in Wichita. The Diaper Jam collects diapers and wipes for the community and puts them into the WIC programs for whichever part of the city needs them.”
“Four years ago, they came to us to see if we were interested in doing something similar up here. I said, of course, because that’s what GCR does, we do everything for our community. So, that’s how it got started.”
This year’s Diaper Crawl will feature a Dice Run with kick-stands up at noon. Harold emphasized that all vehicles are allowed to participate, the Crawl is not just limited to motorcycle riders. The ride will take attendees to various locations throughout Geary and Riley Counties including RC Mcgraws, The Tropics, Rosebuds, and more. Finishing back at the Rockhouse with raffles, an auction, live music, and more.
Residents are encouraged to donate diapers at the many different drop-off locations throughout Riley and Geary Counties. Harold said everything they receive goes to the WIC programs.
“I appreciate all the input and everybody helping us out with this event. We can’t do what we do without our community. This Crawl benefits the WIC programs in Geary County and Riley County.
“Everything that we get, all the money we collect, 100% of it goes to both of those entities, we don’t keep any money. So, I would appreciate any help from either one of the communities.”
