The 2nd annual Jackson’s Journey Tourney is set for Saturday, July 12th at Milford City Park, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The youth tournament is geared for youth aged 4 to 17, with 100% payout to the winners.
This special tournament is held in honor of Jackson Noveroske, a young, avid fisherman whose life was tragically cut short. Hedy Noveroske, Jackson’s mother and tourney organizer, said the tourney helps keep his memory alive.
“Jackson’s Journey Tourney celebrates Jackson and his passion for fishing. It’s about keeping his memory alive, his spirit alive, and turning grief into a positive community event for our youth.”
“All while making new memories with family and friends, and bringing them all together.”
Same day registration is accepted at the tournament, and the Kramer Family has graciously sponsored the registration fee for all children entering the tournament this year. Noveroske emphasized that youth aged 16 and up will need to have a valid fishing license to participate.
A free-will barbecue meal, sponsored by the Tropics and A&K Boat Rental, will be provided from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m., and raffle items will be available to bid on throughout the event. Noveroske said the raffles and barbecue meal are open to all, with raffle items for people of all ages. All proceeds from the barbecue and raffle go to the Jackson ‘Mighty Mouse’ Noveroske Scholarship Fund.
Noveroske said all money from this tourney goes right back to the youth.
“All of the money goes back to the kiddos. The funds made from the tournament are paid right back to the kids. Funds from the raffle items and the lunch, that all goes into his Scholarship Fund.”
“This last school year, we were able to hand out $1000 scholarships to three of Jackson’s senior classmates. This was his senior year, and we were able to do that because of the tournament that we had last year.”
Raffle item donations and sponsorships are still being accepted. Grab the fishing gear and enjoy this great family event in honor of Jackson and his family. For more information on the tourney, including how to register, visit the Jackson’s Journey Facebook page.
