Join the Smoky Hill Museum’s Chili Cook-off: Compete for Judge’s Choice and People’s Choice Awards on September 28

By Trish Svoboda

The Smoky Hill Museum invites teams to participate in the Chili Cook-off at the Street Fair on Saturday, September 28, 2024. This year, a Judge’s Choice Award will replace the Best Decorated Booth award. The first eight teams to sign up will compete for both the Judge’s Choice and People’s Choice Awards, with winners receiving a prize package valued at least $150.

To enter, teams must prepare a minimum of five gallons of chili. Public sampling starts at 11 am for just $2 per sample. To ease the preparation, the Museum will provide a starter kit including 15 lbs. of beef, onions, and tomatoes. Teams can add their own ingredients to create a unique chili.

Entry forms and a full set of rules are available at www.smokyhillmuseum.org under the Chili Cook-off link. For a mailed copy, call 785-309-5776 or email museum@salina.org. Completed applications, along with a $30 non-refundable fee, must be postmarked or hand-delivered by August 30, 2024, to the Smoky Hill Museum at 211 West Iron Avenue.
