KDWP Issues Multiple Citations and Makes Arrests During Milford Lake’s Annual “NudieGras” Event

Authorities issued multiple citations and made seven arrests during a special enforcement operation at Milford Reservoir on Saturday, July 19. The Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks coordinated the effort with Kansas State Park Rangers, Public Lands officers, and the Geary County Sheriff’s Office during the annual “NudieGras” event on the water. Officers stopped 74 vessels, resulting in 28 charges, two warnings, and seven arrests or assisted arrests.

Violations included 10 citations for insufficient safety equipment, (6) for boating under the influence of alcohol or drugs, (3) for negligent operation, and (3) for expired or missing vessel registration. Other charges included overcapacity (2), interference with law enforcement (2), refusal of a breath test (1), speeding in a no-wake zone (1), minor in consumption (1), and criminal restraint (1).

KDWP reminded the public to ensure all safety requirements are met and to never operate a vessel under the influence.

All charges are currently pending.
