The Marshall County Arts Cooperative invites the community to Tearin’ Up the Dance Floor, a fun, intergenerational event set to music through the decades, on Sunday, September 14, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Lee Dam Center for Fine Art, 201 South 9th Street, Marysville.

Admission is by freewill donation. Light refreshments will be served, and attendees are welcome to bring a drink of their choice.

The arts cooperative is hosting this event as part of their capital campaign to raise funds for new flooring at the art center.

“We wanted to create a fun event where people of all ages could come together, enjoy great music and celebrate the simple joy of dancing,” said Sonya Kee, the organization’s treasurer.

Dancers of all experience levels are welcome. To make sure everyone can join in, Veronica Olmsted will teach a selection of line dances throughout the event. These will be set to popular hits such as “Mamma Mia” by ABBA, “Electric Boogie” by Marcia Griffiths, “Boot Scootin’ Boogie” by Brooks & Dunn and “Cotton-Eyed Joe” by Rednex.

“This event is designed for everyone,” Kee emphasized. “Whether you love to dance, want to learn a few new moves or simply enjoy good music and good company, we have something for you.”
