Pottawatomie County Board of Commissioners Expansion

Pottawatomie County, KS- A petition was circulated during the spring and summer of 2022 to have the question of adding two seats to the Pottawatomie County Board of County  commissioners and expand the board from three members to five members. The petition received enough signatures for the question to be added to the ballot for the November 2022 General Election.

The question was approved by voters.

The current commissioners worked on dividing the county into the number of districts approved by the voters and reapportioned commissioner districts “as compact and nearly equal in population as possible” as required by K.S.A. 19-204(a). Pottawatomie County Resolution No. 2022-70, containing the composition of all five districts, was approved on December 12, 2022.

The approved resolution was sent to Governor Kelly, as required by K.S.A. 19-203a. The Governor declared that the new commissioners will be elected at the next general election.

ADDENDUM: The two additional commissioners will be on the General Election ballot in November of 2024 and take office in January of 2025.
