As a child in North Carolina, Rob Hardin of Rare of Breed was thrown from the streets of Charlotte into foster care by age 8. After some unfortunate teen years and a stint in jail at age 18, he turned his life over to God.
For over a decade, Hardin has been sharing his testimony with a blend of Christian, Country, and Hip-Hop music he coined as GodTwang. Hardin spoke about this unique genre.
“I looked around when I was doing music, I didn’t see anything of the sort.”
“The sound in Christian rap, there wasn’t a lot of that, if any. When I looked at country rap, it didn’t fit the content, you know, it talked about something completely different.”
“I talked about Christ, my redemption, and you didn’t hear a lot of that in that genre. So, it kind of was a lane right in the middle of Christian rap and country rap.”
“I felt like I was called to it, and I put them all together, which made GodTwang.”
Rare of Breed will bring its talents back to Morrowville on Sunday, August 3rd, as part of its ‘The Breakthrough Tour,’ with guest appearances by Nate Musik and DJ Winn. Being held at Hills and Valley Farm Ministries, doors will open at 5:00 p.m. with the show kicking off at 6:00.
Hardin said he’s looking forward to coming back to Hills and Valley Farms.
“We have about 20 dates on ‘The Breakthrough Summer Tour’ this year. We wanted to go north and then kind of come back around to North Carolina, and we’re excited.”
We stopped in Morrowville, Kansas, at the Hills and Valley Farm Ministries last year. It’s an amazing property, a beautiful farm with this cross on the top of the hill.”
“I know the individuals who are putting it on, and they are excited about it. We had an amazing time last year, and we wanted to do it again this year.”
