The Riley County Police Department has partnered with the Manhattan Kennel Club for Responsible Dog Ownership Day, taking place Saturday, Sept. 20, 2025, at Manhattan’s City Park.

The event will begin at noon and run until 2 p.m. at the City Park Shelter on Poyntz Avenue. It will be highlighted by an official Proclamation from Manhattan Mayor Karen McCulloh declaring Sept. 20, 2025 Responsible Dog Ownership Day in Manhattan. The presentation is tentatively scheduled for 12:30 p.m.

The RCPD will be at City Park with its food trailer and provide a hamburger and hot dog picnic lunch for those in attendance. Officer Richard Umble and RCPD K-9, Kyra, will also be on hand for a demonstration.
