Rep. Mann Votes to Restore Americans’ Rights, Push Back on China

Washington, D.C. – Rep. Mann voted to restore constitutional rights to American citizens and to confront dangerous threats posed by the Chinese Communist Party. H.Res. 12, Establishing a Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, and H.Res. 11, Establishing the Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party passed in the U.S. House of Representatives.

“Establishing these select committees is the first step towards the kind of oversight America has been waiting on since Joe Biden became President,” said Rep. Mann. “The committees’ work will investigate the threats to freedom and democracy in America from both foreign and domestic actors – those in our own government and those overseas. Whether it’s the Chinese Communist Party defrauding America or the FBI or DOJ violating Americans’ rights, these committees will get to the bottom of the wrongdoing and make recommendations to Congress on how to address it. House Republicans are keeping our promise to conduct oversight and fight tyranny in all its forms.”

The Select Committee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government will investigate the full extent of the Biden Administration’s assault on the constitutional rights of all American citizens.

The Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party will provide policy recommendations on how the U.S. can win the economic and technological competition against the CCP. The Committee will investigate the CCP for its role as a supplier and producer of fentanyl; deceptive trade practices; supply chain risks; acquisition of agricultural land in America; advancing its doctrine in U.S. academic institutions; and more. The Committee will confront the dangerous threat posed by the CCP, protect American competitiveness, and defend human rights.
