K-State Research and Extension’s River Valley District will host “Be a Junior Chef” classes for youth entering 4th through 6th grade. The classes will run Monday through Friday from July 8th through July 12th at the Clifton-Clyde High School FACS Room, in Clyde. The classes will be from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. daily.
Kaitlin Moore, Nutrition, Food Safety, and Health Agent, said this is the River Valley District’s first time offering this Hands-On Program.
Youth will learn about food preparation and food safety, going beyond hand washing and basic food preparation, said Moore.
Moore said that the morning session is already full, but they do have a waitlist for those still wanting to have their child attend. She said that if enough youth register on the waitlist, they will open up a class from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. over the same days. Parents can register their child by calling any River Valley District Office.
