The annual Run for the Wall motorcycle ride will stop in Junction City late Sunday afternoon. Riders will exit I-70 and proceed up North Washington Street to Heritage Park, where a ceremony will honor their cross-country journey from Ontario, California, to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C.
Now in its 34th year, the ride was founded to raise awareness about POWs, KIAs, and MIAs. Local coordinator David Eckel said 300 to 400 riders are expected to pass through an avenue of 300 flags held by volunteers. The event will feature a ceremony at the Kansas Vietnam Veterans Memorial with State Representative Nate Butler as the keynote speaker. A wreath-laying ceremony will follow.
The ride brings together motorcyclists from across the nation, united in remembrance and support for veterans and their families, and continues to serve as a powerful tribute to those who served and sacrificed.
