Take the Gunsmoke Trail through Wild West History

By Ryan Duey

The Abilene Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) has partnered with CVBs in Wichita, Hays, and Dodge City to launch the Gunsmoke Trail Passport. This road trip guides visitors through towns immortalized in the TV series “Gunsmoke.”

Visitors can access the Gunsmoke Trail through a mobile passport, allowing visitors to use their smartphone to find and check in at Cowboy-themed spots along the trail, earning points for prizes through a mobile app.

Through the Gunsmoke Trail visitors are encouraged to explore Wild West-themed locations, learning about historic figures like Wild Bill Hickock and cattle king Joseph McCoy.

You can learn more about the Gunsmoke Trail Program and sign up for your passport by visiting the Kansas Gunsmoke Trail website.
