The Wakefield Museum’s 34th Annual Christmas Bazaar is set for Saturday, December 6th, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the museum. This is the museum’s main fundraising event of the year.
Along with the museum being open for touring, they will offer a soup luncheon from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., raffle items, and much more. Museum Director Joy Shandy said people look forward to this annual event.
“The Bazaar has been held on the first Saturday in December for 33 years.”
“People look forward to it as a chance to reconnect with friends, meet new people, and do some shopping to help fill out their Christmas lists.”
Raffle drawings will be held at 4:00 p.m., along with hourly drawings with items for children, women, and men. The holiday gift shop and white elephant area will be open to stock up on special gifts, along with a bake sale with baked goods from community members. Shandy said it’s also a great day to browse the museum.
“The museum will also be open for viewing, including our new addition that we opened just two years ago, the wonderful History Wall.”
“It’s a wall of photographs with information identifying each photograph, telling the history of Wakefield.”
“The wall is floor-to-ceiling of photographs, and it’s about 50 feet long.”
Shandy said attendees will likely see photos of relatives or friends they know. The exhibit dates back to when Indians lived in the area. The exhibit starts with a beautiful mural of the Indian inhabitants who lived in what is now Wakefield.
The annual Bazaar is a great time for people to gather and kick off the holiday season, all while supporting the museum and the history of Wakefield.
