Washington EMS is offering free hands-only CPR and Heimlich maneuver demonstrations to the citizens of Washington County. EMS will bring this demonstration to your workplace, event, meeting, and more.
Caroline Scoville, AEMT, said the chance of survival in a cardiac event or choking situation depends on the actions that occur within the first few minutes of an incident. This class is meant to make more people aware of how to help when needed.
“Our goal is to get as many people in our communities familiar with what to do in the event of a cardiac arrest.”
This training is not for certification, but simply meant to show attendees how to perform these life-saving procedures in the case of an emergency. In addition to the course, Washington County Emergency Management will provide free CPR face shields to attendees.
The more citizens who are trained in hands-only CPR and the Heimlich maneuver, the better chances of a life being saved in an emergency situation.
Contact Scoville at the Washington City Hall to get set up for this free training.
“If they want to have us come out to their event or to their workplace, it could be a less than 30-minute thing. We can provide that training over a noon hour or whenever; we’re flexible.”
“We want to get as many people familiar with it as we can.”
