Wine in the Wild Returning to Manhattan’s Sunset Zoo on June 1st

By Ryan Duey

The Friends of Sunset Zoo will host the 17th Wine in the Wild on Saturday, June 1st at Manhattan’s Sunset Zoo. Wine and wild animals will join together at Wine in the Wild at Sunset Zoo, a fundraiser hosted by Friends of Sunset Zoo and presented by Addair Law, all to benefit conservation efforts. This event would not be possible without the support of Addair Law and many other community sponsors. The evening for VIP guests will include a seated dinner with a wine presentation featuring wines from around the world. Promptly at 7:00 p.m., doors will open for general admission, and guests can enjoy the evening with hors d’oeuvres, live music, and various wines. The VIP dinner will be beforehand from 5:30 pm to 7 p.m. and is nearly sold out. General admission tickets are still available but selling fast. “We are excited to bring a seated dinner and wine education as a new component to the event this year. Learning about wine is something that we hope is engaging and fun for our VIP guests,” said Friends of Sunset Zoo Board President, Shawn White. The overall event will host ten different wine stations and a variety of foods to sample throughout the entire zoo. Wine sponsors include Nespor’s Wine and Spirits, Liquid Art Winery, Oz Winery and 456 Winery. “Wine in the Wild hosted by our Friends of Sunset Zoo” is something our community looks forward to every year. It is a place to connect with those around the community and also have fun at Sunset Zoo in a unique atmosphere. We are also very thankful that the community supports this event so that our conservation efforts at Sunset Zoo can continue to thrive,” said Sunset Zoo Director, Scott Shoemaker. Conservation goals and efforts of Sunset Zoo not only include caring for the animals that call Sunset Zoo home like the highly endangered Amur leopard, Malayan Tiger, and sloth bear, but also include providing enrichment for the animals, education for staff, and ongoing efforts to make a difference around the world with global conservation efforts. Tickets for both the VIP Dinner ($100), and General Admission ($65) are available for purchase online at www.sunsetzoo.com/wine or by calling Sunset Zoo at 785-587-2737 during business hours. The event sells out every year, and tickets are available on a limited basis. The event is held rain or shine. Questions about the event can be sent to fosz@cityofmhk.com
