Talking to Your Kids About the Birds and The Bees
Spring is just around the corner. The bees are buzzing, the birds are singing, and love is in the air. And, uh oh, your child just asked you how babies are made. This puts you in the less than comfortable position of starting a courageous conversation with your child, as you frantically try to decide what’s the right thing to say and when is the right time to say it.
In response to community feedback, the Clay Counts Coalition is offering as a part of Clay Count’s Courageous Conversations Series, “Talking to Your Kids About the Birds and the Bees” on Monday, February 26th from 6:30 to 7:30 at the Rex Theatre.
The goal of this meeting is to foster open communication between parents and their kids with practical tips, resources, and encouragement. Believe it or not, parents are the #1 influence in their children’s lives when it comes to the area of sex and relationships, but so few parents actually speak up. This evening is planned to help parents develop the courage and knowledge they need to speak into this extremely important area of their child’s development.
This program is free of charge and will be presented by Cory Richards, the Executive Director of Relate 360. Relate 360, is a group of quality educators who love students and love the message of healthy relationships. Based in Manhattan, this group takes a wholesome and comprehensive approach to relationships and human sexuality. Relate 360 also will present to all USD #79 Freshmen Health students. So, this gives parents a chance to listen to the folks who will also be speaking to their kids.
Relate 360 knows that talking with your child about relationships can be daunting! But they are here to help! They want to be a resource to encourage and educate you in your role of walking alongside your child – no matter what age – in preparing them for a lifetime of successful relationships! Join the Relate 360 and The Clay Counts Coalition as we honor our mission to promote the social, physical, and mental well-being of the residents of Clay County as we offer this program to our community.
