Fort Riley, Kan. – A devastating fire over the weekend left a home on Fort Riley completely destroyed and displaced two families. Emergency crews responded to reports of a house fire in the Colyer Forsyth on-post community late Saturday morning, July 22.
Upon arrival, firefighters found the fire had heavily damaged most of the duplex, but fortunately, all residents were able to evacuate safely. The impacted families have been relocated to alternative housing and are receiving support and care.
Fort Riley Garrison Commander, Col. Michael Foote, expressed his gratitude to the first responders and the community for their swift response and assistance to the affected families.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and authorities have not yet released any damage estimates. In the meantime, various organizations and support groups are coordinating donations and assistance for those displaced by the tragic incident.
