House Fire in Concordia Claims Life

On February 20, 2025, at approximately 11:06 AM, the Concordia Police Department responded to a 911 call reporting a structure fire at 211 East 5th Street in Concordia. Upon arrival, the Concordia Fire Department discovered the residence fully engulfed in flames, with thick smoke billowing from the structure.

The Concordia Police Department, alongside the Cloud County Sheriff’s Department, made contact with two individuals who had been inside the home. The individuals informed the authorities that a third person remained inside the residence. Concordia Fire Department and Law Enforcement attempted to go inside the residence to locate the individual. Due to the fire overcoming the house, the interior search was unsuccessful.

One of the occupants sustained second-degree burns and was transported by private vehicle to North Central Kansas Medical Center for medical treatment. The second occupant did not require medical attention.

The Kansas Fire Marshal was notified and arrived at the scene to assist with the investigation. The fire was fully extinguished by approximately 3:00 PM, at which point the recovery process began. Tragically, at approximately 3:50 PM, the body of a 58-year-old male was located inside the residence. He was pronounced deceased on the scene.

The Kansas Fire Marshal, Concordia Fire Department, and Concordia Police Department are actively investigating the cause of the fire. At this time, the cause of this fire is under investigation.
