Authorities are investigating a weekend fire at a rural home in Riley County. Crews were dispatched to a fire just before midnight on Friday, May 10th to 4721 Freeman Road near Tuttle Creek Lake, Riley County Fire District #1 found smoke and flames at the residence.
One resident sustained minor injuries while exiting the home and was treated on-site. No other injuries or pet losses were reported, but both the residence and nearby outbuilding were completely destroyed.
Manhattan Fire Department Battalion 1 and Engine 1 aided as requested. Crews remained on scene until 7:00 a.m. Saturday morning for cleanup and monitoring.
The Kansas Fire Marshal is investigating the fire’s cause, foul play is not suspected.
