The Clay Center Public Utilities Commission recently sent out its 2024 Annual Water Quality Report to local residents. The report provided a snapshot of the water quality supplied to residents in 2024.
Clay Center’s water comes from six groundwater wells. Natural and human-related contaminants can become present in groundwater wells as the water travels over the land. The city then treats the water for contaminants, which is then tested and monitored routinely to ensure a safe drinking water supply.
Testing results ranging from 2020 to 2024 showed no violations for calendar year 2024. Water quality data also showed that contaminants were all well under the ‘maximum allowed’ levels set by the EPA.
Overall, testing showed that the drinking water provided by the city is deemed safe to drink.
