CCMC Release
Clay County Medical Center (CCMC) has earned a 5-star rating for hospital cleanliness, placing it among a select group of hospitals in Kansas recognized by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for exceptional performance in patient experience.
The recognition is based on the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey, a national, standardized tool for measuring patients’ perspectives on hospital care. The most recent data, covering patient surveys collected between April 1, 2023, and March 31, 2024, was released on January 8.
Clay County Medical Center joins some of the state’s larger health systems on the list, including:
- Ascension Via Christi Hospital Manhattan
- Olathe Medical Center
- Kansas Heart Hospital (Wichita)
- VA Eastern Kansas Healthcare System (Topeka)
- Salina Surgical Hospital
“This recognition reflects the dedication of our entire team to providing a safe, welcoming, and clean environment for every patient who walks through our doors,” said Austin Gillard, CEO of Clay County Medical Center. “Cleanliness is a key part of the patient experience, and we are proud to be recognized alongside some of the best hospitals in the state.”
Heather Robinson, Director of Environmental Services at CCMC, added, “Our team takes great pride in the role we play in patient care. Cleanliness isn’t just about appearance; it’s about safety, comfort, and creating a healing environment. This 5-star rating is a direct reflection of our team’s commitment and attention to detail every single day.”
The CMS 5-star rating system is designed to help patients easily compare hospitals based on important aspects of quality care. The cleanliness score, derived directly from patient feedback, is a critical component in building trust and ensuring a high standard of care.
