By Payton Tholstrup

Cloud County was one of fourteen communities chosen that will receive $141,642 from the Kansas Department of Commerce. Announced yesterday, communities in Kansas were selected to receive their share of $2 million from the Community Development Block Grant- COVID Resiliency program. The grant, designed to help businesses in Kansas in the future if another community illness or public health emergency occurs (like COVID), will support a large variety of projects. These projects include technology upgrades, professional development, and more. Each community will be able to distribute the money to local businesses they had identified when they applied for the grant. This is the fourth and final round of the grant program. Since 2020 when the pandemic began, the program has granted communities in Kansas more than $16.1 million.
