Cloud County Declares September as Recovery Month

By Payton Tholstrup

Over 70,000 deaths caused from drug overdose occur every year in the United States. Nearly 21 million Americans have at least one addiction, with only about 10% receiving treatment.

Because of this, The Cloud County Commission voted today (September 5th, 2023) to declare September “Recovery Month” in Cloud County. They are encouraging the community to recognize the importance of recovery. They also hope to help the community understand substance abuse and mental health issues. The goal is for services to become accessible. The Cloud County Commission recognizes the need for accessible recovery and mental health services for everyone, no matter their age.
