Governor Laura Kelly announced over $2.3 million in federal grants to enhance services for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, rape, and stalking in Kansas.
The funding, provided through the S.T.O.P. Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) Formula Grant Program, supports local efforts to address and prevent violence against women. These grants aim to strengthen victim services, expand legal assistance programs, and train law enforcement, prosecutors, judges, and court staff.
Governor Kelly emphasized the importance of providing survivors with access to healing and justice resources, highlighting the role of such investments in creating a safer Kansas.
Area 2025 S.T.O.P. VAWA Grant Awards are:
- Geary County, Crisis Center, Junction City Domestic Violence Task Force, $26,878.
- Riley County, Crisis Center, Riley Co. Domestic Violence Task Force, $28,531.
The program also promotes a coordinated community response to intimate partner violence and related crimes, ensuring comprehensive support and improved outcomes for victims statewide.
