The Geary County Food Pantry is applying for the Kansas Community Service Tax Credit Program, which would allow donors to receive a 50% state tax credit on contributions. To support their application, the pantry is currently accepting pledges through April 15, 2025.
Donations will aid their expansion project, including building completion and vital equipment upgrades like coolers, freezers, and a pallet jack. These improvements will enhance service to the 1,500 individuals and families they support.
Geary County has the highest food insecurity rate in Kansas, with nearly 16% of the population and almost 30% of children being affected. The pantry aims to combat this crisis through expanded services. If awarded, the tax credit will be a major boost to the pantry’s fundraising efforts.
