Pawnee Mental Health Receives Grant to Address Essential Needs

By: Ryan Duey

Pawnee Mental Health has received a $3,000 grant to address essential needs for its clients, staff, and the community by acquiring essential equipment and training.

The grant will fund the purchase of a low-step medical-grade scale with a high-weight capacity and handlebars, ensuring accurate and safe assessments crucial for quality care.

Additionally, the grant will support Bal-A-Vis-X training for staff working with youth experiencing serious emotional disturbances and adults with serious mental illness. This training involves rhythmic, patterned exercises using a balance board and various balls, aimed at promoting calmness and sustained focus.

The new equipment and training will significantly enhance the therapeutic environment, improving concentration and emotional regulation for both clients and staff.

Shelli Schottler, Community Service Director stated that they are grateful for the grant, which will allow them to make meaningful improvements in their services to the community.
