CCMC Release
Megan Gfeller, MS, L/CCC-SLP, and Rebekah Sharp, BSN RN, are proud to
announce that they have earned the prestigious Certified Breastfeeding Specialist™ (CBS)
certification. The CBS certification, awarded by Lactation Education Resources (LER), recognizes
individuals who meet rigorous criteria in breastfeeding management and care. The program equips
certified specialists with the knowledge to advocate for breastfeeding, promote environments that
support lactation, and assist families in achieving their breastfeeding goals. The certification also
underscores their ability to collaborate with healthcare teams to empower parents and children.
Both Gfeller and Sharp participated in an intensive online training course offered by Lactation
Education Resources, followed by a hands-on skills day in Pittsburg, KS, on November 8th. The
certification process included a comprehensive exam covering key topics such as anatomy and
physiology, infant growth and development, positioning and latch, and counseling skills.
Gfeller and Sharp are now equipped to provide enhanced support for breastfeeding families, ensuring
they have the resources and guidance needed for a successful lactation journey.
“I am honored to have earned the CBS certification and excited to further support families in their
breastfeeding goals,” said Megan Gfeller, MS, L/CCC-SLP. “Breastfeeding is a vital part of infant
health, and this certification allows me to advocate for breastfeeding and empowering mothers and
babies with the most current and accurate information.”
Rebekah Sharp, BSN RN, shared similar sentiments, stating, “The CBS certification reinforces my
dedication to empowering parents through breastfeeding support. It’s a privilege to work alongside
families, helping them navigate challenges and achieve a positive breastfeeding experience.”
Gfeller and Sharp join a distinguished group of professionals dedicated to promoting optimal
breastfeeding practices and enhancing public health outcomes.
