Clay County Medical Center proudly continues to offer LSVT BIG, a proven therapy program designed to help individuals with Parkinson’s disease and other neurological conditions improve mobility, function, and overall quality of life.
LSVT BIG is an evidence-based treatment approach that uses large-amplitude, high-effort movements to combat the slow and small motions often associated with Parkinson’s disease. Rooted in the same principles as the well-known LSVT LOUD speech therapy program, LSVT BIG helps patients move more freely and confidently in their daily lives.
Patients who participate in LSVT BIG have demonstrated meaningful improvements, including:
- Increased walking speed and stride length
- Improved balance and posture
- Decreased risk of falls
- Greater independence in everyday tasks such as dressing, cooking, shopping, and attending
social events
“This program has made a big difference in the lives of many of our patients,” said Stephanie Hope, Occupational Therapist. “Our goal is to help individuals with Parkinson’s maintain their independence and continue doing the things they enjoy.”
The LSVT BIG program at Clay County Medical Center includes personalized one-on-one sessions with certified therapists, tailored to each patient’s abilities and goals.
