Betty Ann Cyphers, age 76, of Concordia, KS, passed away on Friday, December 20, 2024, at Salina Regional Health Center, Salina, KS surrounded by her family. She was born on June 11, 1948, in Concordia, KS to Dean A. & Gladys L. (Patterson) Gagna.
She graduated from Greenleaf High School in 1966. She married the love of her life, Thomas “Tom” F. Cyphers on August 17, 1968, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Greenleaf, KS. They were married for 56 years and to this union 2 children were born 15 years apart, Brooke and Jordan.
She held many jobs over the course of her life, telephone operator for Southwestern Bell, a teller at People’s Savings and Loan, and a secretary for Martin Tractor. For over 20 years, she was a library para educator for USD 333. Retiring in 2018 to fully embrace her role as Granny. She was a lifetime member of the Concordia VFW #588 & Clyde #7515 Auxiliaries. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia.
She served as a leader for Campfire Girls and for New Horizons 4-H club, and as Scout Master for Troop #31 in Concordia. She taught line dancing, belonged to the Starlight Square Dancers and the Country Road Cloggers.
She was an avid book reader and well on her way to reading over 100 books this year. Her greatest passions were her grandchildren, scrapbooking, and photography.
She is survived by her husband, Tom of Concordia, KS; daughter, Brooke Bryson of Concordia, KS; son, Jordan Cyphers (Annie) of Aurora, KS; grandchildren; Brody and Breena Cyphers; sister, Janie Cottrell of Centralia, KS; and many beloved sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents & and an infant brother, Donald Dean Gagna, and all brothers-in-law.
It was Betty’s wish to be cremated. Memorial services will be announced later in 2025.
