Bill R. Woolard, 90, passed away on September 11th, 2022 in Boulder, Colorado.

A graveside funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, September 29, 2022 at the Washington City Cemetery, Washington, KS.

Bill was born in Haddam, KS on September 29th, 1931 to Wade and Juanita “Babe” Woolard. His maternal Grandfather selected his name the day he was born and he was raised in their home. Bill spoke fondly of his Grandparents and their influence on him growing up.

In 1948 Bill graduated from Haddam High School and later joined the Army, serving in Korea. Upon returning, he was united in marriage to his childhood sweetheart, Mary Lou Dodds, on June 28, 1953 in Belleville, KS. They lived in Washington, KS for a short time before moving to Lincoln, NE where Bill attended the University of Nebraska.

Following graduation in December, 1958 they moved to Peoria, IL for employment with Caterpillar. Work took them to Colorado, South Dakota, California, Canada and back to Colorado.

Bill retired from the University of Colorado in 1995. Retirement allowed time to travel to Europe and many places in their RV. They enjoyed spending a few months every year during the winter in southern California, returning to Colorado for the summer.

Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 61 years in 2014.

He is survived by several extended family members who will miss him dearly.
