Obituary-Carolyn S. Brown

Carolyn Sue Brown, 77, of Clay Center, Kansas went to her heavenly home on May 12, 2024 at Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan, KS.  She was born on December 25, 1946, in Clay Center, Kansas, the daughter of Marvin H. and Grace C. (Matson) Siebold.  

Carolyn grew up a farmer’s daughter surrounded by her four siblings and attended Idlywild’s one room school as a young girl, graduating from CCCHS in 1964. On June 4, 1965, she married Bryce Brown at the Fact Church in rural Clay County. She worked at Peoples Bank as a teller for many years and following a move to Rifle, Co, she worked at ANB Bank in Glenwood Springs, CO.  After the passing of her daughter Michele in 2012, she took over the role of “mom” for Michele’s five children.  Upon retirement they moved back to Clay Center, and she worked at HeadStart Daycare for a brief time.

Carolyn was a beautiful, gracious, kind, and sometimes stubborn soul who loved her children, grandchildren, neighbor’s kids, HeadStart Daycare kids- really, just all kids.  She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and the church Friendship Circle. She enjoyed serving her family and her community and was always willing to lend a helping hand.  The world is a better place because she was in it.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Michele Brown, her brother Lanny Siebold, and her sister Marsha Pittenger. She will be unbelievably missed by her husband, Bryce, son, Darren (Paula) Brown of Home, KS, Seven Grandchildren: Kailyn Wagoner, Kye Wagoner, Tre’ Brown, Dayne Brown, Angelica Echave, ShaLynn Brown, and Amillia Echave. Six Great Grandchildren; Blake, Brycen, Brailyn, Azlynn, Braxtyn, and Bellen. Also, by her brothers; Jerry (Betty) Siebold, Tony (Barbara) Siebold, her brother in-law Arnold Pittenger, sister in-law Rita Siebold, and her beloved cat, Lilo.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Friday, June 7, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Clay Center, KS.   

Visitation will take place at the church from 9:30 am until the time of service.

 Inurnment will be held at a later date.
