Obituary-Cheryl Zenger

Cheryl Ann Zenger was born on December 9, 1948, in Concordia, to Virgle & Marguerite (Menke) Hanshaw. Cheryl grew up near Haddam, attending Haddam Public Schools, and graduating from Haddam High School, class of 1966.

Following high school, she was united in marriage to Willard H. Zenger on January 14, 1968, in Haddam. To this union of 50 years, three children were born, Tammy, Scott, and Buffy.

Cheryl was a farm wife and homemaker. Willard and Cheryl owned and operated the Haddam Grocery Store for many years. Later in life, she worked as the Haddam City Clerk. She enjoyed going to garage sales, along with sewing and crocheting, and sitting down with a good book.

Cheryl passed away on April 26th, 2022, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center in Shawnee, Kansas, at the age of 73 years, 4 months and 17 days.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Willard in 2018, and brother Norman.

She is survived by her children, daughter Tammy Dankenbring of Lenexa, son Scott Zenger and his wife Stacy of Shawnee, and daughter Buffy Hemming and her husband Charles of Belle Chase, Louisiana. Cheryl is also survived by her grandchildren, Carli Dankenbring, Terry Dankenbring (Jordan), Brenden Dankenbring, Peyton Zenger, Brice Zenger, Cody Allen, Rylie Hemming and Daxton Hemming. She is also survived by her brother Dennis, many cousins, and a community of friends.

Funeral Services will be Friday, April 29th, 2022, at 11:00 am, at Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home in Belleville, with Pastor David Manyara officiating. The family will greet friends from 9:30am until service time, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Haddam City Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday, April 28th, from 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm, at the funeral home.

Memorials are requested to the Haddam Café, and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
