Charles E. “Chuck” Dieckmann, 91, died October 8, 2025 at the Linn Community Nursing Home in Linn.
Visitation is Sunday, October 12, from 4 to 7 p.m., with the family present, at the Ward Funeral Home in Linn.
A funeral service will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 13, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Linn. Rev. Timothy Koch will officiate. Eunice Beier is organist and the congregation will sing “How Great Thou Art,” “I’m But a Stranger Here,” “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Amazing Grace.”
Pallbearers are Micah Dieckmann, Douglas Dieckmann, Conner Hynek, Curtis Frink, Randy Tiemeyer, Shawn Alexander, Matt Griekspoor, Brent Johnson and Justin Lemasters.
Burial is in the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery. A luncheon will follow.
Chuck was born on October 6, 1934, in Horton, KS to Vernal and Faye (Amon) Dieckmann. He was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Netawaka, KS. Chuck attended Elementary School in Netawaka and Scandia, KS and then graduated from Linn High School in 1953. On August 26, 1956, he was united in marriage to Beverly Alexander at Zion Lutheran in Linn and recently celebrated their 69th anniversary. In 1958, they purchased the Linn Locker Plant, where he worked side by side with his wife until they retired. During this time, they received numerous awards in the meat industry for the many specialty products that they made. But most important to him was being able to raise his children within the family business and the many lifelong friends made along the way.
Chuck was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church. He loved attending his kids and grandkids activities and enjoyed tinkering with all his tools in his shop.
Proceeding him in death were his parents; brother, Jim Dieckmann; very dear uncle and aunt, Oscar and Lyda Amon; son, Mark Dieckmann; grandson, Jaden Dieckmann; son-in-law, David Black.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly; sons, Jack (Lori) Dieckmann, Linn, Brad (Lisa) Dieckmann, Clay Center, and daughter, Jody Black, Linn; grandchildren, Tara, Meghan, Micah, Macey, and Kirsten; and great grandchildren, Piper, Kevin, Elizabeth, Hudson, Emmitt, and Olivia.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to Zion Lutheran Church for the new Parish Hall. Contributions may be sent to Ward Funeral Home, PO Box 157, Washington, KS 66968.
