Cressa L. Hansen, age 97, passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at Sunset Nursing Home, Concordia, Kansas. She was born on September 16, 1924 at Sulphur Springs, near Aurora, KS to John & Edith (Hutcherson) Springsted.
Cressa graduated from Miltonvale Rural High School in in 1942. She married Dean Simpson of Miltonvale in 1942. To this union three children were born. They later divorced. She worked as grocery store clerk, Matron at Lake Afton Boys Ranch, Goddard, KS for several years and as a kitchen and nurse’s aid at Sunset Nursing Home.
She married Lawrence Hansen on March 2, 1974 in Concordia, KS and was a farm wife for nearly 20 years, helping Lawrence with the farm duties until he preceded her on Nov. 1, 1993. She stayed on the farm until March 1996 when she moved to Concordia.
She was a member of the First Christian Church, Christian Women’s Fellowship & Group II of the church & Buffalo Valley E.H.U.
She is survived by her daughter, Janice Baxter, Silver Springs, FL; grandchildren, Kitty Miller (Jere), Patty Hines (Skip), Mike Cole (Michele), Tim Hitsman (Lily), Tony Hitsman (Linda), Jerry Hitsman (Michelle), Brad Simpson (Teri) & Jacque Simpson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lawrence; son, Dale Simpson; daughter, Nadine Rowley; grandchild, James D. Cole & 4 sisters.
Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Friday, September 9, 2022 at the Fellowship Christian Church, Concordia with Pastor Dwight Whitead officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia, KS. Family will greet friends at the church an hour before the service.
