Obituary-Daniel Kline

Daniel D. Kline (Pastor Dan), age 71 of West Grove, PA and former Pastor of First Baptist Church of Clay Center, KS passed into the arms of his Lord and Savior on February 27, 2022.  He was born in Lynchburg, VA in 1950 to the late Karl L. Kline and Arline Kline Gunderson.Dan was a 1969 graduate of Emmaus High School in Emmaus, PA and a Graduate of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY.Dan’s full time ministry life included the following: Associate Pastor of Kanawha City Baptist Church in Charleston, WV, Christian Ed / Youth / Music Pastor at First Baptist Church of South Charleston, WV, Youth Pastor and Interim Pastor at Clarksburg Baptist Church and VA Chaplain in Clarksburg, WV, Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church of Clay Center, KS, Meadowlark Hospice Chaplain in Clay Center, KS, Senior Pastor of Willow Grove Baptist Church Willow Grove, PA, Senior Pastor of Kennett Square First Baptist Church in Kennett Square, PA, EPIC Ministry Pastor at Avondale Presbyterian Church, Avondale, PA and Associate Pastor of Media Mennonite Church – now called Waterway Church in Oxford, PA.
Dan retired from full time ministry in 2018 due to declining health but remained a faithful Pastor to many and found creative ways to share the gospel wherever he went.  Three simple words, “Enjoy the Gift” was his way of creating a joyful introduction to any stranger that he would meet.  This opened up the door to share Jesus with them.  Dan’s gift of compassion for others led him to visit many people over the years in their time of need.  Dan had a beautiful singing voice and played his guitar for over 55 years.  He was a man of Prayer.  He will be remembered as well for his quick puns and jokes!
Dan’s life verse was Romans 1:16 “ For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.”
In 1984, Dan married Cheryl Baughman Kline with whom he shared 38 years of life together in full-time ministry.  Dan was a faithful dedicated father to daughter, Alicia Kline Hendrickson and son, Joshua Kline.
Dan is survived by his wife Cheryl, daughter Alicia Kline Hendrickson, son-in-law Chuck Hendrickson, all of West Grove, PA, and son Joshua Kline of Anderson, Indiana.
Also surviving are his brothers, Dave (Patricia) Kline of Sewell, NJ, Jon (Joanne) of Franklinville, NJ, sister Cheryl DeShazier of CharlesTown, IN; sister, Karlene VanNess of West Sussex England and half brother George Jones of Santa Cruz, CA, and extended family.
A Service will be held at  First Baptist Church in Clay Center KS, on Saturday, May 21st at 11:00 AM. Friends can visit with the family 1 hour prior to the service.
Private Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Clay Center, KS
