Obituary-Darleen Moormann

Darleen Emma Moormann, age 95 of Manhattan, passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at the Good Shepherd Hospice House.

She was born on October 27, 1928, near Linn, Kansas, the daughter of Herman and Emma (Meyerhoff) Scheele.  Her parents presented her to the Lord in Holy Baptism on November 14, 1928, at Zion Lutheran Church.  After being instructed in the doctrine of the Christian religion, she was confirmed on March 29, 1942, at Zion Lutheran Church by Rev. W.G. Biel.

She was joined in marriage on December 25, 1955, to Marvin Moormann.  This marriage was blessed with two children, Marvin, Jr. and Marlene.

Darleen was devoted to God most of all.  She loved her family and grandchildren, garden, flowers, country living, and music.

She is survived by her children; Marvin Moormann, Jr. and wife Teri of Topeka, and Marlene Moormann of Manhattan; two grandchildren, Jeremy Moormann and Sara of Topeka and Christy Siebert and husband Aaron of Olathe; two great grandsons, Corbin and Griffin Siebert of Olathe; three sisters-in-law, Esther Scheele and Donna Scheele, both of Linn and Rosella Calderwood of Topeka; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Marvin; her parents, Herman and Emma Scheele; her father-and mother-in-law, John and Martha Moormann; two brothers, Wilbert and Raymond Scheele; one sister, Lola Herrs; brothers-and sisters-in-law, Verlin Herrs, Sam Calderwood and Ervin and Wilma Wiechman, and one nephew, Stanley Wiechman.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Sunday, December 10, 2023, at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 11, 2023, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Manhattan with Rev. Michael Schmidt officiating.  Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery outside of Linn.

Memorials have been established for St. Luke’s Lutheran Church and Good Shepherd Hospice House.  Contributions may be left in the care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.
