Obituary-Darlene F. Lewis

Darlene F. Lewis, age 90, lifetime Concordia resident, left this earthly life on Sunday, December 18, 2022 at her home in rural Concordia, Kansas.  She was born April 8, 1932 to Norman and Christine (Davidson) Lapo.

Darlene was a 1950 graduate of Concordia High School, Concordia, Kansas.

She married Don Lewis on Feb. 1, 1953 at The Baptist Church, Concordia.  He preceded her in death on September 2, 2010.

She worked as a telephone operator for Ma Bell for several years.  Darlene was also a wonderful mother, homemaker, where she was always preparing many meals for their farm family.

Darlene was a member of The Baptist Church, Concordia, Kansas.  She helped in the Kitchen for many funeral dinners and special church events.

She enjoyed baking, her coffee friends, her neighborhood Christmas gatherings, college football and basketball, was a KC Royals and Chiefs fan.  Darlene was great at spreading her cheer by remembering family birthdays and sending cards to her family and friends at times of need.   She truly loved spending time with his beloved family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends.  Darlene most importantly loved her Lord and read her Bible faithfully daily.

Darlene is survived by her daughters, Kayleen Lewis, Concordia, KS; Kelly Schulze & husband Steve, Hays, KS; Jennifer Odette & husband Joe, Concordia, KS; grandchildren, Cody Odette (Hattie) Concordia, KS; Cyle Odette (companion Mackenzie Mossman), Des Moines, IA; Colton Odette (Madi), Concordia, KS; Spencer Schulze (Leah) Coronado, CA; great grandchildren, Brantley, Wesson, and Jackson; special niece, Judy Salley (Ron), Rogers, AR; special great nieces, Heather, Heidi and Hollie; special nephew, Ronnie.

She was preceded by her husband Don Lewis, parents, Norman and Christine, daughter, Donita Lewis, 4 brothers, 5 sisters.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Monday, December 26, 2022 at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home. A Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at The Baptist Church, Concordia, Kansas with Pastor Steve Schulze officiating.  Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia, Kansas.
