Obituary-Delores Koss

Delores Adelle (Russell) Koss, of Belleville, KS, passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at the age of 90 years old.

Delores was born on October 19, 1932, in Belleville, Kansas to parents Ray W. and Hazel (Collier) Russell. She attended Bell Country School, and then Haddam High School where she graduated in 1950. She went on to attend Stewarts Cosmetology School in Salina, Kansas.

She was united in marriage to Donald E. Koss on March 14, 1954. To this union of 44 years brought three children, Mark, Patti, and Debbie.

Delores worked in Mankato for three months. She then owned a beauty shop in Morrowville, Kansas, for three years. She worked at Foote’s Café, and volunteered for Meadowlark Hospice. Later she worked at the Republic County Hospital and the Mahaska Community Center.

She loved horses and was a former barrel racer, involved in the Haddam Saddle Club. Delores dearly loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Her focus in life was her faith, family, and friends (human and the furry kind – horses, dogs, and cats.) She also enjoyed birds and flowers. Delores had a dog kennel, raising shih tzus and cairn terriers. She put her heart and soul into raising and caring for them.

Delores will be missed dearly by her children Mark Koss and wife Mary of Haddam, KS, Patti Robinett and husband Brian of Olathe, KS, and Debbie Vanous and husband Duane of Belleville, KS; grandchildren Meredith Ernzen, husband Caleb, and their children Blaine, Clayton, and Aiden; Mike Koss, wife Ann Gandhi and their son William; Jaime Vanasse, husband Jon and their children Audrey and Elise; Jason Robinett; Danielle Toubia, husband Tony and their children River and Jack; Diana Frye, husband Tyler, and their son Trevin; Desiree Neff, husband Matthew, and their children Blakleigh and Bentley; Derek Vanous and his significant other, Jenna Riley; and sister in law Darlene Lambert and husband Roger.

She was preceded in death by her husband Donald, and her parents.

Visitation will be held at Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home in Belleville on Friday, June 16, 2023, from 1:00 pm – 7:00 pm, with family greeting friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at the Narka Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow at the Haddam Cemetery.

Memorials are requested to the Narka Presbyterian Church, and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
