Dixie Ruth Sortor, age 93 of Clay Center, passed away Thursday, February 27, 2025, at the Park Villa Nursing Home in Clyde.
She was born on September 24, 1931, in Clay Center, the daughter of LeRoy James and Hazel Demaris (Tripp) Hare.
On December 24, 1948, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, she married Ned Edward Sortor. He preceded her in death in 2018.
Dixie was a financial advisor for Waddell and Reed for 32 years, retiring in 2004. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 88 years. She enjoyed travelling and entertaining guests.
She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Sortor of Clay Center; her grandson, Justin Pfizenmaier of Manhattan, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Ned Sortor, she was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Ruth Ann McAnarney, and one son, James Aaron Sortor.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at the First Baptist Church in Clay Center with Pastors Jon Henderson and Kevin Larson officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery.
Memorials have been established for Meadowlark Hospice or First Baptist Church of Clay Center. Contributions may be left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.
