Donald Dean Boyer, age 68, passed away on December 19, 2024, at Kansas University Medical Center after a year-long struggle with cancer. He was born in Junction City KS to Joyce (Boles) Boyer and Phillip Boyer.
Joining the Navy right out of high school, Don spent 4 years in the service. After the Navy, Don obtained a position at Ft. Riley, starting as an HVAC Mechanic. His work ethic and ability to become proficient with any task he was given eventually led to climbing the ladder to becoming a Human Resource Specialist. Don spent 32 years at Ft. Riley before retiring in 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Aaron Boyer, brother Phillip Boyer and sister Rosedale Vanderbur.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Cathy Griffee of Clay Center, son Nate Griffee Boyer and wife Ami, grandson Cash and two granddaughters, Sailor and Georgia, all of Gardner KS; grandson Harley Boyer and granddaughter Mariane Wright; and brothers Mike Boyer of Junction City and David Boyer of St. Louis MO.
He enjoyed working with his hands and worked on remodeling their Clay Center home and their log cabin in Colorado. He took pride in keeping his yard looking pristine and being the envy of the neighborhood. He especially loved spending time with son Nate and his grandchildren. He leaves behind many friends who will miss his generous nature and wonderful sense of humor.
