Obituary-Edna Marie Rogge

Edna Marie (Debauche) Rogge, 95, passed away September 5, 2022. She was born September 13, 1926 on a farm near Palmer to Anthony and Blanche (Ouellette) Debauche. Her family moved to Palmer where Edna attended grade school. She graduated from Linn High School. She took normal training and summer school at Kansas State. She taught at Spring Creek School near Palmer.

On August 27, 1946, she married Albert “Buck” Gieber. They had five children: Lana (Russ) Biladeau, Silver Lake; the late Terry (Kim), Spokane, Washington; Annette (Robin) Hood, Concordia; Steve (Vicki), Abilene; and Angela Hayes, Colorado. Edna worked several years at the Linn Nursing home. “Buck” passed away on May S, 1982.

On October 6, 1984, Edna married Adolph F. Rogge. She moved to Wakefield, KS and added three more children to her family, one son and two daughters: Kent (Barbara), Salina; Linda (the late Dan) Okeson, Salina; and Susan (the late Alan) Paton, Arkansas City.

Edna enjoyed reading, painting, sewing and cooking. For several years she made pies at the Wakefield restaurant. For many years she made dinner rolls and cinnamon rolls for community fundraisers, family and friends.

She was a past member of St. Bernard Catholic Church in Clara and St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Clifton. She was a member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Clay Center. For more than 20 years, Edna was a Eucharistic minister at Golden Living nursing home in Wakefield. She was on the advisory board of the Golden Living nursing home, a member of the Wakefield Library Club, and for 40 plus years she was a member of the Clifton American Legion Auxiliary.

Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Adolph, one sister, Ruth Evans, and two brothers, Charles and George. Other survivors include one sister-in-law Grace Ann Debauche, Concordia; 11 grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 19 step-great grandchildren; and one step-great-great grandchild.

Visitation will be Saturday, September 10, 2022,  from 9 AM until service time at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Clifton, KS.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM. following visitation. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Catholic Church Cemetery in Clara, KS.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Clay Center Presbyterian Manor or SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Clay Center and sent in care of Neill-Schwensen-Rook, Inc. Funeral Home 918 Seventh Street Clay Center, KS 67432.
