Obituary-Evelyn Novak

Evelyn Ruth Novak, 95, of Clay Center, KS, passed away November 23, 2024, at her residence in Clay Center. She was born to Fred and Anna (Keller) Wendte January 12, 1929, in rural Washington County Kansas. 

Evelyn grew up in rural Palmer Kansas, attending the St. Johns Lutheran Church. She moved to Clay Center around 1950 where she met her future husband, Charles Novak. Charlie preceded her March 26, 2020. Along with being a homemaker, she also was a Librarian for 25 years and became the Director before retiring.

Evelyn was an active member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Clay Center. She was a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher, a member of the Friendship Circle, and served faithfully on the Funeral Committe and Altar Guild. She was also a reader at the Presbyterian Manor for the residents and served Meals on Wheels on a regular basis. Evelyn loved quilting, gardening, mountain views and looking out for wildlife with Charlie every day at 4pm. 

Evelyn is survived by her son, Dennis and wife Diane Novak of St. George, daughter Donna and husband Steve Jordan of Clay Center, and Grandchildren, Jennifer, Christy and Daniel. 

Evelyn is also preceded by her sister, Aletha Weiche and brother, Norman Wendte. 

Service for Evelyn will be held on Wednesday, November 27 at 1pm at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Clay Center, Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 11am until service time on Wednesday, November 27 at St. Paul Lutheran Church. 

Memorial can be made to the St. Paul Lutheran Church or Meadowlark Hospice and sent to the funeral home.
