Obituary-Gene Kindel

Gene Kindel, age 73, of Aurora, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at home surrounded by his family.  Gene was born on April 14, 1949 in Concordia, Kansas to William “Bill” and Bernadine (Cote) Kindel.

He married Kathleen May on June 14, 1969 in Concordia, Kansas.

He was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 3rd Degree K of C St. Michael Council #2114 both of Aurora, and Bishop Thill Assembly 4th Degree K of C.  He was also a member of the Heartland Auto Club.  Gene was the Bingo chairperson of the K of C Hall in Aurora for many years and was known as the Bingo Man. He also coached Pee-Wee Baseball in Aurora for many years.  He enjoyed shooting Blue Rock and woodworking.  Gene loved attending his grandkids sporting events and most of all spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy of the home in Aurora, daughter, Kathleen Miller (Tony), Aurora; sons, Mike Kindel (Jackie), Concordia; Allen Kindel (Missy), Aurora; Kevin Kindel (Jennifer) Aurora; sisters; Anna Marie “Amber” Charbonneau (Ray), Dewey, OK, Anita LaBarge (Mark), Aurora, Gloria Blackwood (Steve), Clay Center & Linda Kindel, Concordia; brothers; Donald Kindel (Geraldine), Victoria, David Kindel (Jan), Carthage, MO, Raymond Kindel (Jolene), Aurora, Stephen Kindel (Susan), Aurora, Richard Kindel (Sheri), Aurora & Daniel Kindel, Manhattan;  11 grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents William “Bill” and Bernadine.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am, Friday, February 17, 2023 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Aurora, Kansas, with Fr. David Metz officiating.  Burial will follow at St. Concordia Cemetery, Concordia, Kansas.  A luncheon will be served at the K of C Hall in Aurora for family and friends following the graveside service in Concordia.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a Parish Vigil service, followed by a K of C Rosary service all starting at 6:00 pm on Thursday evening, February 16, 2023 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia, family will receive friends after the Vigil/Rosary service.
